Tesla Model S – the cool Eco way to travel in the 21st century

Are you sick and tired of wasting money on gasoline and polluting the air you breathe? The solution is to drive an electric car. Noiseless, economic and ecologic, this is the coolest way to travel these days, when we are in desperate need of protecting the environment.

Electric cars are automobiles that are propelled by one or more electric motors, using electrical energy stored in batteries or another energy storage device. They have no tailpipe, no engine and they don’t need gasoline in order to function. Seems pretty futuristic, doesn’t it? Actually, electric drive vehicles exist since the 1880s. They were popular until early in the 20th century, when mass production of cheaper gasoline vehicles led to a decline in the use of electric cars.

More than a hundred years since then, due to concerns about increasing oil prices, advances in batteries and power management and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the electric vehicle manufacturing is once again on the rise. There is an increasing demand for electric cars as more and more people seem to realize this is the way to save financial resources and also to help maintain the environmental health.

Tesla Model S – the fastest and safest electric car

When it comes to electric cars, Tesla Model S is the best you can get! It looks great, it’s eco friendly, super-safe to drive and the fastest electric car on the market. First released in 2012, this fully electric vehicle scored a perfect 5.0 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration safety rating and can reach 100 km per hour in a record time of 3.4 seconds!

It’s no wonder Tesla Model S achieved rapidly growing sales all over the world, becoming the first electric car to top the monthly new car sales ranking in any country. Indeed, driving without polluting is a true evolution in automobile engineering. You charge Tesla at night and it will perfectly fulfill your driving needs the next day. How cool is that?

Tesla Model S – top qualities

100% environmentally friendly. As it functions using a clean energy source and no gasoline, Tesla Model S does not release toxic gases or fumes into the environment. With every driver that chooses an electric car over a gasoline vehicle, the planet becomes healthier and cleaner!

Reduces monthly expenses. Electricity is not free either, but it is much less expensive than conventional fuel. Not to mention electric cars come with cheaper maintenance, as they have fewer components to maintain and repair and they don’t need oil change, antifreeze and other car essentials.

Lowers the risk of fire and explosion accidents since it uses electrical energy and not gasoline, which is highly flammable.

It’s noiseless, so in addition to not polluting the air, Tesla Motor S doesn’t produce disturbing noises that may harm the activity of human or animal life.

The fastest electric car. Step on the accelerator and in just 3.4 seconds you will be driving 100 km per hour, without hesitation and without a drop of gasoline!

Easy to recharge. When you are on the go, there are free charging stations (the so-called “Tesla Superchargers”) all over Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, where you can charge your electric car in just a few minutes. Otherwise, you can always recharge your Tesla at home, by simply plug it into a wall outlet.

Lower taxes and contributions. There are several countries where national governments have established tax credits, subsidies and other incentives to promote the purchase of electric vehicles.

5 out of 5 rating!

The “fronk” or area where the engine would be in a traditional car is completely empty which gives the vehicle cushion room in frontal collisions that could save your life in an accident. Getting a rare 5 out of 5 on safety by the NHTSA the Tesla’s “fronk” truly does make a difference as well as having no engine so there isn’t any oil and gas to be an issue in accidents. With an amazing 300 miles per charge on an 85 kWh battery (the other option is a 65 kWh), going continuously 55 mph, the Tesla soars beyond the average consumer’s daily mileage and expectations. 85 miles per gallon, a figure obtained by the EPA, soars above most fuel-efficient cars like the Toyota Prius. When taking road trips supercharge stations are available between major cities and are FREE of charge to use. That’s right you can get a free 170 miles of charge while you take a 20 min pit stop and eat a burger on your road trip. While the stations aren’t available everywhere it is becoming a more common occurrence as the Tesla Model S gains more popularity. Finally, tax deductions of about 7,500$ are available to be taken off the cars price for buying a new Tesla Model S for personal use. That’s a pretty good chunk taken off of the price that is enough to turn a few heads in the direction of this new, green “sporty” car.

Tesla Model S price

Like all electric cars, Tesla Model S comes with a stiff price compared to classic gasoline vehicles. According to Tesla Motors website, one can buy Tesla Model S for $71,070 in the US and € 59.770 in Europe. But on the long term, this investment will totally pay off, as you will no longer waste money on gasoline, oil change and car repairs. Therefore, you will save your financial resources while keeping a safe and healthy environment. That’s a deal true eco-conscious people can’t resist!

Melissa Bachman  American TV host, Multiple Animal Murderer is now a Canned Hunt Killer.

Melissa Bachman may be one of the very worst public examples of America’s insane Gun and Hunting culture.

How is this Sport?

I fail to see how any sane human being with even the smallest respect for life, can look at the mindless hunting of animals and see a sport.

By definition, when a sport pits two opponents against each other, both come armed with a similar arsenal of skills, both have an opportunity to win, and critically, both know that they are in a contest.

Enter Melissa Bachman, an American “Game Hunter”, and so called star of a misguided television show called Winchester Deadly Passion.

So distorted are these peoples perspectives that their website describes the manufacture of Winchester Ammunition as “more than manufacturing, it’s a lifestyle.” and have the audacity to claim on the website that they are Conservationists.

Bachman, and presumably other misguided individuals who watch her antics, have either no appreciation of the value of life, or hold so narrow a perspective as to think some brief, adrenalin rush, satisfying their own sick value systems, is somehow more valuable to the planet than the existence of a magnificent, even endangered animal.

In her defence, it would be easy to argue that man has always hunted, but hard to convince any sane human that hunting and killing animals is a life skill required by American’s today.

Despite this, Melissa Bachman has carved out a career, by entering the abode of other living creatures, armed to the teeth and engaging in a life and death game, that her unarmed opponents do not even know they are playing.

Change the location from wilderness, game reserve, etc to suburbia, change the target from a bear, lion, deer etc to a human, and Bachman would rightly be labelled a home invader and serial murder.

Bachman can be readily found online, posing with any number of magnificent creatures which she has mindlessly killed either for sport or for what she describes as “the best job in the World”.

Dumped by National Geographic

In 2012, National Geographic made the unbelievable decision to include Bachman in a show titled Ultimate Survival Alaska, only to remove her following a public outcry when over 13,000 people signed a petition complaining about her participation.

This week, Bachman has received widespread media comment after participating in the killing of a lion, in a Canned Hunt in South Africa. Sadly the Lion was not the only victim of Melissa Bachman’s pointless blood lust as evidenced by photos of her with an equally dead Zebra, and Antelope.
Images readily available suggest she shows similar disrespect of animals anywhere, and will kill anything.

It must take enormous courage and skill to enter an animal reserve, sneak up on a magnificent animal which has been bred on the property, hand raised, bottle feed and generally trained to trust humans, and then end the animal’s life with a high powered rifle.

Canned Hunting In South Africa

Sadly the Canned Hunt industry is not only big business in South Africa, but an activity that many well intend expat South Africans will tell you does not exist.

Unfortunately, these so called hunts are legal in South Africa, allowing anyone with sufficient cash, regardless of their skill or lack of it with a rifle, to kill magnificent “wild” animals.
I can only guess at how many animals not only die, but die a slow and painful death due to the lack skill of the so called Hunter.

The latest Bachman murders took place at a game park called the Maroi Conservancy, manager of which is Lourens Mostert.
Presumably Mostert shares Bachman’s lack of respect for life, and for the animals under his care.He is quoted defending his park and Bachman’s activity there on the basis that “killing a Lion” is legal in South Africa. He added “if it isn’t right to hunt these lions, why does our government legally give us permission.”

Whilst that is itself a very good question, it is also clear that individuals, whose incomes depend on questionable activities, have many ways of maintaining personal denial over what are all too often morally indefensible actions, like Canned Hunting.

Admittedly this barbaric action is legal in South Africa presently, but history has shown that  Governments are frequently not the best reflection of a changing country’s Moral Compass, and hiding behind the legality, does little to the enhance Mosterts position.

Melissa Bachman is fueling change in South Africa.

Whilst it is the last reaction she would want, the mood in South Africa is changing, and another petition has been circulating with Bachman’s name on it. This time calling on the South African government to ban Melissa Bachman from ever again entering South Africa.

The petition describes her as “an absolute contradiction to the culture of conservation this country prides itself on”, and demands that “she no longer be granted access to this country and it’s natural resources” …

The petition has been closed with over 487,000 signatures . Perhaps the South African government, like National Geographic will listen.

Sign Our Petition

Hopefully a lot more petitions will be started in many more countries, with the end result that the murderous Melissa Bachman gets to stay in the good ole USA.
This website has also created such a petition for you to sign, which will be presented to our Federal Government, and which will hopefully see Bachman banned from entering our country, and slaughtering our animals for her misguided Television show, or for her personal gratification.

Please click the link above and sign the online petition before you leave this page.

Linda Blair made a movie in the early 1970’s.

For those old enough to remember it, the 1973 thriller The Exorcist is undoubtedly among the most frightening movies ever made.

Depicting a teenage girl possessed by the Devil, the Exorcist was slammed by Catholics for its demonic portrayal, despite having been written by a devout Catholic, William Blatty. The star of the movie was Linda Blair, who’s name and face remain synonymous with the movie over 40 years later.

Few would recall many of Linda’s later roles I suspect, but she has gone on to make a contribution in a far more tangible arena than Hollywood.

America has a massive pet animal problem.

In 2003 , she became acutely aware of America’s pet animal “over population” problem and formed The Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, which fights against domestic animal abuse, particularly in Dogs. Blair takes a stand against Dog Fights, Puppy farms, and generally strives to rescue and re-home at risk or abused dogs.

When hurricane Katrina ravaged the US in August 2005, Blair spent over two weeks camped in the back of a truck, near an animal shelter in Louisiana.

She would eventually personally take in 51 dogs from that shelter, 48 have since been rehoused, whilst 3 are waiting for their new home 8 years later.

Turning Vegetarian

Linda says she was reading a book in 1998 about acid rain, pesticides, and the way commercial interests “farm” animals. That book made me a vegetarian, she says, and becoming Vegetarian changes your life. It\’s a step to living more sustainably.

It makes you more aware of the foods that you eat, and brings animal cruelty and the damage done to our planet through animal farming into focus.

The way we choose to farm animals definitely impacts on our environment, clearly affecting the air, oceans, rivers and land.

Few people realize that the largest contributor to greenhouse gas is cattle farming.
Equally concerning is the cruelty to animals that comes from so called \”factory farming,\”

Another part of the puzzle is the growth in diabetes and obesity, the incidence of those has never been so high.

Becoming Vegan

Becoming not only vegetarian , but a Vegan, and being an example of another way, is part of the stance behind a new

book co-written by Linda, called “Going Vegan”

Linda

which can be purchased at The Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, where sales assist in funding the rescue of domestic animals.

“Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” Albert Einstein, physicist, Nobel Prize 1921

As Linda Blair has discovered, going Vegan is one step better again.
“No animal has to suffer for me to live”…Linda Blair.

British celebrity Russell Brand has spoken out about what he sees as a largely irrelevant political system in England, which fails to address Climate Change.

According to People Magazine:

Brand grew up in Greys, England, living mostly with his mother after his father walked out whilst Russell was only a baby.

With his mother battling cancer, he lived in situations which were both economically and socially challenging, leaving him with both depression and eating disorders by the age of eleven.

Having difficulty with his mother’s boyfriends, spending time with relatives and enduring sexual abuse from a tutor, it is hardly surprising that Russell is remembered by his teachers as an attention seeking student, regularly playing the fool and carrying out weird pranks including eating ants.

Despite being described by his teachers as a waste of space, and getting thrown out of boarding school for entertaining girls in his room, Brand displayed a talent for and interest in Drama, which saw him move to London by the age of 16, to attend the Italia Conti stage school.

Again his personal demons surfaced, he started using drugs and turned to smashing up school property and self destructive behaviour which saw him kicked out of two acting schools.

Brand turned to comedy, and rose to prominence after numerous questionable stunts, including appearing as  Osama  Bin Laden only one day after the September 11 attacks, facing his father in a boxing ring and  other equally dubious stunts.

By 2004 he had been through rehab for his drug issues, but he was back in rehab again in 2005 fighting his sex addiction.

Brand turned his life story into a best seller called My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs, and Stand-Up

With trouble following him in Britain he turned his career focus to the USA, marrying pop queen Katy Perry in 2010 and taking the lead role in the remake of “Arthur “ in 2011.

Sadly 2011 also saw the end of his marriage to Perry.

Despite his personal issues Russell continues to land prime and diverse roles, including a role alongside Tom Cruise in the 2012 musical Rock of Ages among others, and his own TV show.

Recently Brand created a sensation when he appeared on stage as an award recipient on the GQ 2013 Men of the Year awards,  linking sponsor Hugo Boss with Hitler’s Nazis.

This week Brand has been interviewed by the BBC after becoming the editor of a Political magazine despite refusing to vote in any election out of total indifference to the choices put before him.

Drawing on his under-privileged  background Brand describes the British political system as totally irrelevant to interests of the majority of its citizens and has called for a revolution to create a new political structure that no longer presides over the destruction of the planet through Climate Change or the massive social disparity that exists world wide.

Brand calls passionately for a political system that no longer ignores the needs of the people, addresses the major issues of our times, and is no longer dictated too, or influenced by commercial interests.

It is hard to argue with his overall sentiments when recent studies by The Guardian have concluded that many major corporations still do not take Climate Change seriously. The Guardian sites Apple, Facebook, and Amazon among 97 global companies not embracing the issue

Whilst Blue Planet Custodians does not endorse all comments made by Brand in this interview, it is pleasing to see him stand up so publicly and passionately for the climate change debate.
